Yesterday was the annual Forest Park Balloon Race, and, as has become a tradition, we set off in the car to try to follow the balloons.
We set off driving around Forest park, and first spotted them as we drove along I.64 at the north of the park.
Taking the next available exit, we doubled back through Dogtown, and then followed them towards through Shrewsbury and through South County towards Jefferson Barracks and Melhville and Oakville.
I was driving, with my wife being the coordinator and photographer, and it was fun to be on the lookout for the balloons between the buildings and trees,
and try to work out the best roads to take, whilst being conscious of other drivers too!
We started out following the lead balloon, but as others overtook us, we went with the pack until they landed.
My wife captured some great images, and I particularly liked the ones where you see the balloon against a normal street scene, I think it’s the strange juxtaposition of routine and unusual that makes them so striking.
