I worked in Edinburgh for a few years in the 2000’s, and grew to love the City.So it was an obvious place to go on my vacation back to the UK.
This is the courtyard just before you enter the castle walls
Interesting fact about the cannon in Edinburgh Castle. When Queen Victoria came to visit the Castle in the late 19th century, she noted there were no cannons. he thought that every castle ought to have cannons, so one of the keepers of the castle went and got some. However, knowing nothing about them, he got ships cannon, which are ornamental, but not at all what would have been used.
Like Rome, Edinburgh is built on two hills, the Castle is on one which accounts for the views from here.
Another Ships Cannon.
Notice how the castle is actually built into the rock.
“Lang” can be translated as long
The tower you can see is on Calton Hill
