An interesting thing happened on Wednesday early morning – I was doing some video editing, when suddenly my laptop started screeching at me. I tried to stop it, but nothing was responding, so I turned it off, waited 30 seconds, and turned it on again.
It lit up to the manufacturers welcome screen, and then………….. nothing.
Power is on, battery full, switched on, but no action from the hard disc. I tried a couple of things that morning, but nothing worked, and I had to be out of the house to go to London for the day, so I didn’t really have time to do much.
I was late back, so it was Thursday before I could really see if there was anything I could do, but it looks really dead to me:( I do have a friend who used to be a PS technician says he’ll have a look at it, but he’s away right now and frankly, I’m not holding out much hope.
But all my data is backed up, and I have a notebook (that I’m using now) so all is not lost.
Except that my backup is a week old – and do you realize how much one can do in a week?
And this netbook is so s l o w compared with what I was used to – a good exercise in practicing patience!! The main problem is that I click on something, or do an action, and it appears nothing has happened, so I do it again – and end up with the action done twice!
Then I went to look at my online accounts, only, as this is a “new” device, they all asked me for verification that it was me. Now I know this is a good security measure, but it gets wearing after a while to answer the security questions. And for one of them, it would only send a message to my cell phone. That would be fine, but my cell phone isn’t working here, and so I need to call them. At their office in California.
But I’ve seen bad, and this isn’t it
Next, unless my friend can fix the laptop, will be the search for the next computer.
Oh Deep Joy!
My new book, “Cast A Long Shadow” is available NOW – check it out:)
